NBA Playoffs
May 8, 2006Ok, so the Mavericks lost by two points in Game 1. THis will be a great series. Can't wait for Game 2.
And speaking of great series, that Phoenix-Lakers seven-gamer will be hard to top. A couple of ESPN Classics mixed in there, although Game 7 was a stinker. People like to compare Kobe to MJ, but I'll promise you Jordan scores more than 24 points in a series-deciding game. And only 1 point after halftime? Are you kidding me.
Funny, three years or so, the NBA first round was changed from best-of-5 to best-of-7, and some conspiracy theorists said it was to ensure the Lakers wouldn't be upset in the first round that year. If the best-of-5 was still in place today, then it would be a Clippers-Lakers series.
Gotta love the Raja Bell-Kobe trash-talking. Bell spoke his mind - lets face it, Kobe is pompous - but I like Bryant's "Maybe he wasn't hugged enough as a kid" line.
That got me thinking. What is the best basketball trash-talking line. I came up with my favorite.
Chicago's Scottie Pippen, after Karl Malone missed two free throws late in a tie NBA Finals game that the Jazz lost. The game happened to be on a Sunday. -- "The Mailman doesn't deliver on Sundays."
