Watch out Olney and Windthorst
February 19, 2008I say this out of warning. Stephen Smith is going to Mineral Wells to cover your game tonight.
Why should this matter? Why don't you ask any one of the several teams Smith has covered in the playoffs lately.
WFHS and Burkburnett last Friday in Decatur -- both lost.
Hirschi, which had a 10-point lead last week, lost.
But the amazing thing is, Smith does not just stick to girls basketball, the main sport he covers.
Last year, after the Holliday boys basketball team only lost one game in the regular season, they lose their first playoff game with Steve in the house.
And the Eagles baseball team had advanced to state for six straight years. What broke the trend last year? Steve finally covered them in the playoffs.
Of course, this blog is all done in jest. We really do not believe Steve can turn the outcome of a game.
If Windthorst loses tonight, it will be because they are playing a ranked team. And Olney-Peaster is a Top 10 Class 2A battle.
Plus, at least one team bucked the trend. The Burkburnett softball team went all the way to the state championship last year with Steve in tow.
But I thought I should at least give warning.
