Carpet Cleaning

How often should I have my carpet, rugs and furniture cleaned?

Everyone’s lifestyle and home situation is different so their needs will differ based on things like number of children, pets, whether or not shoes are brought right into the home onto carpeting or rugs and whether meals are often eaten on furniture.

As a general rule of thumb once a year or so for your carpet and rugs and every other for furniture is usually adequate. Be sure to clean before things start to look too dirty so you minimize the risk of permanent, unsightly traffic patterns.

I work all week; can Hagopian come out on the weekend?

They sure can! Hagopian offers 7 day service at No Extra Charge so you won’t have to take time off work ~ unless of course you want too.

My dog was sick on the carpet and even though I cleaned it up there’s still a brown stain. Can you get that out?

There is a very good chance Hagopian's cleaners will be able to remove it, but if not don’t worry. Part of their No Extra Charge promise is to send a chemist out to remove stubborn stains from carpet (sorry but furniture and rugs are excluded) so one way or another they should be able to take care of it.

How will you clean my rugs? Also, one of them had the fringe chewed off by, you guessed it, my dog!

Pets are wonderful and bring great joy to our lives, but can also do some damage to things on occasion. Look at the good side~ you won’t have to spend money on them to keep up with shopping trends or put them through college.

In the Hagopian Rug Care Spa, every rug is handled with the care and attention it needs. Their rug cleaning system is the only one of its kind in Michigan and is designed to clean any rug thoroughly & safely. They also have native craftsmen that can repair virtually any damage from fixing torn fringe or edging to reweaving a hole.

How does Water Damage

When water damages, it normally spreads t the dries, most absorbent material first. Carpet and the underlying “sponge like” padding are usually first. As the carpet and pad become saturated, the water then “wicks” up into the drywall (drywall, paneling, plaster) affecting base trim, wood stud framing and insulation. The flood water will spread to anything that will absorb water. Time is the most crucial element in preventing water damage. Moisture must be removed and the structure dried as quickly as possible to avoid secondary damage. Secondary damage includes un-restorable structural damage and microbial growth, (like mold) which may cause many adverse health effects.

How long will it take to clean my carpet? And then, how long will it take to dry?

Cleaning times can vary from home to home or office to office. The time factor changes based upon the degree of soil, congestion of furniture and preparation of delicate items by the client. A few rooms that are empty can be cleaned quite efficiently within an hour. This ease of cleaning is due to the fact that we use a completely self-contained mobile cleaning plant. Drying time is also effected by the degree of soil because more spotters and pretreatments may be necessary. However the amount of humidity in the air actually has the greatest impact on drying time. A hot humid day in the middle of summer can be just as hard on drying time as a cool rainy day in late fall. Airflow and low humidity are critical factors for superior drying of carpets and furniture. Keeping the traffic down during the drying process will facilitate a more rapid drying. Children and pets should be kept off of damp carpet for safety reasons. (Slipping and falling) Protective blocks and pads prevent rust marks and furniture stains. - Murray

How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Under normal traffic conditions in a residential application we recommend a full service cleaning every 12 to 18 months. If your carpet experiences heavy usage, every 6 to 8 months may be advised. Most commercial carpet should have a preventive maintenance plan that cares for the high traffic areas every 4 to 6 months. Pre-planned cleaning and frequent vacuuming will enhance the life of your carpet investment. Most soil is dry until outside conditions influence that soil and turn it into mud. Professional cleaning simply releases the soil from the fibers. Always use a Certified and Insured cleaning company. - Murray
